The aim of this assessment is to develop a critical review of a tourism practice visited during the field trip. Instructions Attend the field trip (Week 5) which provides first-hand experiences in the realities and issues impacting on the management of tourism practices. The field trip locations are pre-selected so that students can use the site for their Critical Review. Further details/resources for the field trip will be provided on LearnJCU and in class. Form a group of 3 students and develop a critical review document (2,500 words including in-text citations but excluding Reference List and elements e.g. Tables and Figures). Structure the Critical Review into the IMRAD structure: Click this link for more info about the IMRAD structure. Abstract (max 300 words) Introduction (why you critically review this practice?) approximately 500 words Methods (how did you critically review the practice?) approximately 500 words Results (what did you find?) approximately 600 words Discussion (what do you think the results mean? Why does your study matter? Any recommended future actions.) approximately 600 words Divide the Critical Review components above into approximately equal sections and distribute amongst group members. Group members need to develop their sections in collaboration with other members. A suggestion for a group of three: the first student writes the Abstract and Introduction, the second student writes the Method and half of the Results, and the third student writes the other half of the Results and the Discussion. Review against the theories presented in this subject, specifically using the Prism of Sustainability and the DPSIR framework. At the very least, for the Result and Discussion, critically review: the interactions between tourists and nature (including wildlife, if applicable), the interactions between the tourism practice and the locals (if applicable), the quality and quantity of tour interpretation and the sustainability of the tourism practice. Collate the individual contributions of members into the final version of the Critical Review. Submission Upload your draft individual sections of the critical review to the Assessment task 2Critical Review Individual Dropbox on Week 9, Sunday. The draft individual sections will be compared to the final group version submitted. A mark will be allocated for your individual contribution; the marking system is explained in the Assessment Task 2 rubric Upload your group critical review to the assessment task 2 Critical Review GROUP dropbox on your LearnJCU subject site by Week 10, Wednesday. The marked assessment and feedback will be available online through LearnJCU no later than 21 days after the due date.
