Description
In completing this assessment, students will deliver a well-researched, coherent essay, discussing the question below. Please also refer to the marking rubric for this assessment to better understand each requirement (available on Blackboard and discussed in class).
To help you get started, this assessment has been divided into two parts:
Part 1A requires you to start researching for the essay and submit details of three (3) academic sources (other than your textbook!) that you can use to support your essay argument. Please note that these sources should be located through the library database and should include at least one academic journal article. For this part of the assessment you should use the format set out on Blackboard.
Part 1B requires you to compose the essay itself. You will need at least five (5) academic sources located through the library database (including the three submitted in Part A). You may use your course text as a reference for this part of the assessment. In addition to the required academic sources, you may also use other, non-academic sources but these should be in addition to the academic texts and must be used wisely to provide practical examples to illustrate your argument. All sources must be referenced in APA format. This part of the assessment needs to be structured in essay format as set out on Blackboard. Please note the importance of attaching a completed Assessment Coversheet (available on Blackboard).
Essay question
According to Robbins, Bergman and Coulter (2018:5), managers make a difference to the organisations overall performance and productivity, either positively or negatively. Discuss how the influence of Katzs three identified management skills (cited in Robbins et al, 2018:13) may be moderated, positively or negatively, by the global connectedness of modern organisations to their external environment. Include examples in your discussion.
