Maintaining a work life balance is a choice one has to make in life. Work life balance involves a balance between personal life and work. It acts of balancing time spent for personal things and daily work. Personal life includes ones health, spirit, relationships and family. Work in this case refers to pursue of ones career. Making progress up the corporate ladder requires devotion and hard work that need much time. I think that one should keep a balance of work-life in order to enjoy success in the end. The first step to keeping work life balance is redefining success. This strategy involves stating what one will acknowledge as success at the future date. Understanding the gradual change that happen in life and the impact of todays action is important in defining ones success. Having your family and friends together as part of the success is an admirable thing. A good health forms part of ones success in life . Getting the highest position in the corporate ladder without a good personal life cannot make one truly happy. Success can be more meaningful if one succeeds while maintaining close relationships with friends and family. Success should then be redefined to be holistic and not one part failing at the expense of the other. The second strategy is determining priorities in life. It is important to prioritize work and other aspects on ones life. There some things in life that once lost they cannot be recovered. For instance, family and friend once lost they cannot be recovered. This is different to work. One can lose a job and get another one or even a better one. Relationships, if once broken takes a lot of time and efforts to be reinstated to its original status . Failure to give family, friends and health priority is a failure to maintain ones personal life. Therefore, it is important for one to determine and give priority to personal life while working hard to make progress on ones career. Third, balance can be attained by recognizing work and making sacrifice when necessary. There is importance for one to have focus on the work when need be. Differentiating time to work is important to making great achievements. For instance, focusing on peak season to get the high returns and meeting crucial deadlines need recognition. Nevertheless, this should not occur throughout ones career. Recognition of work enables one to create focus and succeed in work. This aspect enables one to manage time and give priority between work and personal life in ones career. Lastly, is the creating a legacy. This refers to ultimate goal the person wishes to achieve since a long period of time. Legacy is what one has to leave other people saying about his life. Creating a legacy directs one on what to daily do in achieving it. This strategy enable defining ones todays actions. Since legacy is build in other persons life, one will be able to maintain work life balance with an aim of having people close as family and friends. From the analysis of this article, it is clear that one does not need to give up work-life balance to progress up the corporate ladder. Rather, it is possible to maintain work life balance and get the same progress. Hence, one will be holistically successful in both work and personal life.
