We have heard that quite a few students are confused about how to tackle Assessment Task 1. It appears that the problem is associated with the volume of resources I have made available to you re: history/politics/influences. People are not sure what direction to take. The sheer volume of resources is indicative of the amount of change that has occurred since 1972 it is important to focus on what, why and how senior schooling has changed during this time ie: the focus on engaging student who would have left school the increased focus on VET subjects etc. The rationale for these changes comes from a number of different sources as indicated in the opening slide of Lecture 2 I am aware that I did not have time to finish this lecture, however the slides are there to guide your reading. To address perceived impact of these ongoing changes you should look at how the curriculum has changed since 1972 and how the focus in moving to a more generic approach to engage students who did not see the relevance of staying in school to gain their QCE that was introduced in 2006 through to the impact of ACARA especially the STEM project. These initiatives are all see as transition to employment – As promised, I have included a prcis of Stephen Billet’s book in readings for Week 3 that you may find useful. Remember that Queensland is aiming to maintain some control over the assessment phase of these changes that see the move from the OP system to ATAR – All of this information would be descriptive we will also be looking for an evaluation of the changes contextualised with National and International approaches to Senior schooling and some critical analysis interwoven through the descriptive elements of the essay see the criteria for marking that will be used by all of the tutors. All of the criteria will be weighted equally – I hope this information helps you. this is an announcement from my lecturer
