DESCRIPTION: Your final paper will serve as an opportunity for integrating your learning from the different units, as well as any other resources and knowledge at your disposal. Select an issue that you feel is critical in terms of achieving sustainable communities and societies, and craft an argument as to why you feel this issue is critical. Then, select at least three case studies and discuss how approaches and strategies from these cases can be integrated in addressing the various facets of the issue (you do not need to link the specific organizations, programs, and initiatives together, rather discuss this in terms of their innovations and ideas). In your discussion, describe how these approaches/strategies can both complement and conflict with one another, and discuss the ways in which conflicts can be reconciled and/or minimized. Your paper should include the following elements: Abstract: high level summary of the contents of the report and major findings (no longer than 200 words) Introduction: detailed background on the sustainability issue and its significance Analysis: general characteristics of the problem Discussion: how approaches and strategies from cases can be or have been integrated in addressing the various facets of the issue, including areas of complementarity and conflict Conclusion: ways in which conflicts can be reconciled and/or minimized through innovations and ideas, pinpoint future research that should be undertaken, make policy recommendations end strong! Your report should be no longer , excluding references tables and figures; and submitted as a Word document. It should be strongly evidence based, drawing on all of your learnings in the course, and integrating as many references as possible using using APA style guidelines. The report should also include a title page including your name and word count. Once you have completed a draft of your report, post your abstract to the appropriate team discussion forum as instructed in Unit 5 as a new discussion topic for others to provide peer review, feedback and comments for improving your paper. Once any revisions to your report are completed, your final version should be uploaded to the relevant drop box at the end of the course. Your report will be assessed for demonstrating an understanding of a particular issue, its relevance to sustainability, challenges and innovative ways in attempting to address the issue. NOTES: Three case studies are attached. The critical issue I would like to focus on in regards to achieving sustainable communities and societies is on a viable renewable energy industry that balances economic, societal and ecological values.
