Write a 1-2-page, double-spaced essay in response to the prompt above. To present your strongest writing skills, submit an essay that:
· Provides a focused and clear central idea that responds to all questions in the assignment prompt with developed ideas;
· Integrates relevant and accurate paraphrased and/or quoted and cited evidence from the Marshall et al. (2017) reading excerpt in support of the argument, accompanied by appropriate analysis – you may use your preferred citation style;
· Organizes ideas with logical structure, clear paragraphs, and transitional words/phrases;
· Uses grammar and mechanics to effectively communicate meaning to readers;
· Maintains academic integrity by demonstrating your original work and appropriately paraphrasing and citing relevant information from the Marshall et al. (2017) reading excerpt. Including outside sources beyond the Marshall et al. (2017) reading excerpt provided above is not required for this essay; if you use them, however, then you must cite any information you summarize, paraphrase, or quote in your preferred citation style.
ESSAY SCORING
Your assessment essay will be scored on a scale of 0–5, with 5 indicating the highest possible score.
Your score will determine whether you have fulfilled your Graduate Writing I and II requirements or will need to take none, one, or both courses.
· Score of 4 or 5: If you receive a score of 4 or 5 on your assessment essay, then your Graduate Writing I and II requirements are fulfilled. You will be recommended (not required) to enroll in Graduate Writing III for free and review instructional materials on the

to begin exploring some of the nuances of scholarly writing.
· Score of 3: If you receive a score of 3 on your assessment essay, then your Graduate Writing I requirement is fulfilled, and you will need to complete only Graduate Writing II. You will be enrolled in this required writing course in the following term.
· Score of 2 or 1: If you receive a score of 2 or 1 on your assessment essay, then you will need to complete both required Graduate Writing I and Graduate Writing II courses in sequential order. You will be enrolled in the first required writing course in the following terms.
· Score of 0: If you receive a score of 0 on your assessment essay, it is because you did not submit an essay for review, or your essay exhibited evidence of plagiarism. You will need to complete both required Graduate Writing I and Graduate Writing II courses in sequential order. You will be enrolled in the first required writing course in the following terms.
Your assessment essay is scored out of 20 points based on the rubric above. Your score will then be converted to a holistic score between 0-5. Review the conversion chart below to determine your final essay score. You will also receive your essay score to your @waldenu.edu email one week after the course ends.
